About the
ProgramEntry Requirements
All applicants must be hired
and/or recommended for participation by a
participating Independent School District as a Teacher of Record
in a certification area offered by the TAPP.
Admission into the ESC-20 TAPP
requires that all applicants meet the following standards
required by the State Board for Educator Certification and
ESC-20.
- Official transcript from the
degree conferring university
- Foreign transcripts
evaluated by an entity approved by SBEC
- Cleared criminal history
check

The above SBEC fees are estimated
and are not guaranteed. Fees outside of the control of the
Teacher Alternative Preparation Program are subject to
change. All fees applied to ESC-20/TAPP are
non-refundable.
Note: The new teacher and member will both
receive stipends of $500 for continued involvement in
Years 2 and 3.

Employment &
Probationary Certificate
Once employed as a teacher of
record, the candidate must complete and submit an application to
ESC-20. The application is accessible online under
Forms. Furthermore, the
candidate must immediately go to SBEC Online,
www.sbec.state.tx.us, apply for the Probationary Certificate and
fingerprint check, and submit to SBEC the applicable fees.
