The ESC 20 School Support Team is here to assist local school districts and campuses in improving student performance, operating efficiently and effectively and carrying out mandates from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the Texas Legislature. The School Support Team's mission is to reduce the number of campuses rated "F" in State accountability and "Comprehensive" in Federal accountability by enhancing capacity statewide by supporting ongoing improvement of under-performing districts and schools.
Resources:
The DCSI oversees the work of school improvement as a required member of the Campus Intervention Team (CIT), leads and participates in the needs assessment, improvement planning, and monitoring processes, and ensures requirements and submissions are completed on time.

The goal of the Effective Schools Framework (ESF) is to provide a clear vision for what districts and schools across the state do to ensure an excellent education for all Texas students.

The School Improvement Division supports the state’s goal to improve low-performing schools by reviewing, evaluating, monitoring, and intervening with campuses and their districts to ensure excellence in education for all students.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) provides Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI), Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI), and Additional Support (ATS) campuses the opportunity the apply for a competitive grant titled the ESF Focused Support Grant.

Texas provides annual academic accountability ratings to its public school districts, charters and schools. The ratings are based on performance on state standardized tests; graduation rates; and college, career, and military readiness outcomes. The ratings examine student achievement, school progress, and whether districts and campuses are closing achievement gaps among various student groups.
