this is where we grew up in a we don't we're very family-oriented and so we we embrace the community we keep them together as a family and down my parents you know he didn't have an education or a very limited education and growing up in the same Community allows me to better understand the students and motivate them is to overcome any obstacle we just bringing over some of them have it hard and it's because you do whatever it takes sometimes it's hard work but you do it and you reap the benefits later on you know I've seen a lot of my former kids turn around become doctors do you think you go back and look at this neighborhood right here it's a man he came from right here make me a little emotional but I will take this place where you get your wonderful. Stacy Lind and he said laughing and smiling and you can write down and what more can you ask for that. for that I thank God for you you're in the Woods Elementary we let the students know but it doesn't matter their background or any hardships that are going through here there anyone everyone is going to learn and we're going to give it our all in order to help our students in order for them to learn and we let them know that they can accomplish their dreams goes if there's a mind if they work hard and with dedication there's no greater reward than seeing your your student come and tell you that they're going to a university that they got a scholarship to me that's the most rewarding thing about teaching Premier for a science is concerned doing as you smart I was involved for two years with listo a program out of NM University literacy infuscience through technological opportunities so we talked a lot through technology plus Incorporated literacy getting their academic language to where they could pronounce it and learn it that away a lot of Hands-On for the past couple of years we've been using imagine learning as our computer program the kids really enjoy it but we've been very faithful to it very consistent it's not negotiable do you have to meet your goal you have to make your minutes and dad has really improved our reading for but it's something that again the Administration has to have to track and allows us to see how much growth they've had and consistency basically for us is just consistent we look at data we we talked about the things that we see when we do our walkthroughs and we try to give him feedback weather we need a little bit of more small group we need a little bit of more pull out intervention in order to get those goals meant so I think it's that communication that that communication with a teacher making sure this is where this is where we want your this is what we want to see and how are we going to do this and when we say when I say we it's how are we what do I need to provide to you so that you can meet that goal as well. It's not it's not something that she'll do by herself it's something that the campus will do it together we have different programs like the readyrosie that's for the the little ones the Pre-K 3 Pre-K 4 students and the parents have different activities they can log in to read a book with her with her child but we also have a meeting for they men themselves and we teach them how to do the activity or how to do that specific targeted skill that needs to be talked for the little ones that allows the parents to to come on to camp to work with her own child so we kind of do a guided that guided lesson with them but again having the parents come on a daily basis and drop off their students Greenstein outside opening the door for them when the students get dropped off or get picked up we had men do it ourself and that allows the parent to see you and ask you and so it makes them comfortable and they'll drive up and and they'll still say like do you know any question that they have that I think it's that constant communication is that constant seeing of each other every day I'm had my two generations come to school they really haven't learned any shift a lot they make you feel like family they're very respectful and very professionally they have the PTO meeting with the mic meetings mostly we talked about the progress of the kids and so the materials they're going to be using Applewood keep a log also love each student and everything is on the log and we also meet together and kind of talked about you know the students how they're doing the progress are having that was a school where they began and it was on the little Hill and they started as a he was a superintendent she was a teacher and he drove around a little Jeep yellow cheap to pick up any students might not be in class and took him to class you know how sedimentary has student counseling y l and then why do we do a lot of things you can be in math or reading student count you can help that you can help your community and you can do some things here around the school as well they helping them take pictures help the school I feel very comfortable and really safe to be around other people and my teachers because they're very kind and very welcoming it's really positive I like it because of all the teachers are nice to us and she just lots of things like math science Social Studies reading and spelling that's what it's all about having the students get to a point where they believe in themselves and for me that is one of the things that I tried to instill in them is if you believe in yourself anything is possible but mine said is very important like you see up there the gray side of course that's the negativity that we adults to not just children that we carry around that I'm not good enough or I can't know we have to be colorful and we have to say yes I can and if we keep saying enough to ourselves like and I can we will do it I always tell him learning from the heart
