Every Student Succeeds Act/Elementary and Secondary Education Act

The Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) was first passed by Congress as part of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s War on Poverty. The most recent reauthorization amending ESEA is the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA). The primary function is to close the achievement gap between groups of students by requiring greater accountability and offering increased flexibility and choice. ESSA affects almost every school district and charter school in the state.
Education Service Center, Region 20 provides training and technical assistance to districts/charter schools in the areas of:
  • Implementation of ESSA guidelines and mandates
  • Evaluation of ESSA program effectiveness

Education Service Center, Region 20 provides training and technical assistance to districts/charter schools in the areas of:
  • Federal Program Updates
  • Completion of the Consolidated Application SAS

Grants

Education Service Center, Region 20 provides grant technical assistance services for districts and charter schools through grants provided by the Texas Education Agency.

Title I, Part A Non-Public SSA
The Title I Non-Public School SSA Cooperative provides equitable services program management for area school districts and private schools. The service includes private school consultation, assistance in determining and documenting eligibility of Title I, Part A private school students, direct student services at participating private schools, accounting for funds, and reporting to districts, private schools and the Texas Education Agency.

TEA Partnerships

Texas Education Agency also partners with a number of ESCs to provide statewide resources for training and use in by ESCs and Local Education Agencies (LEAs).
