About Related Services
Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), “related services" are a wide array of supportive services provided to children with disabilities to assist them in benefiting from special education. Specifically, the IDEA defines related services as transportation and such developmental, corrective, and other supportive services necessary for a child with a disability to benefit from special education.
Related Services can include, but are not limited to:
- Audiology
- Counseling Services
- Early Identification and Assessment of Disabilities
- Occupational Therapy
- Orientation and Mobility Services
- Parent Counseling and Training
- Physical Therapy
- Psychological Services
- Recreation
- Rehabilitation Counseling Services
- Speech-Language Pathology
- Transportation
Our Services
At ESC Region 20, we are dedicated to supporting our region's Occupational Therapists (OTs), Physical Therapists (PTs), Adaptive Physical Educators (APE), and teachers who provide instructionally-related services to students with disabilities, as well as other professionals providing adapted physical education services in the least restricted environment (LRE). We provide high-quality professional development, technical assistance, coaching, and a variety of customizable services and resources to enhance your related services programs and support your educators.
