School Counseling Services

The School Counseling Consultants provide resources, professional development, technical assistance, and contracted services to support the implementation of a Comprehensive School Counseling Program per the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs. Our primary task is to ensure school counselors understand their role and meet statutory requirements for public school counseling. We also offer crisis response services and curriculum support for high school graduation.
School Counselor Cooperative

A variety of sessions and seminars are offered throughout the school year on various topics that help school counselors assist students in Intrapersonal Development, Interpersonal Development, Postsecondary Planning and Career Readiness, and Personal Health and Safety. These are discounted for members of the School Counselor Cooperative. We welcome all educators to our sessions, including administrators, mental health professionals, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and teachers.

To register for sessions, please search Connect20 using the term Counseling Services. For information about our cooperative benefits, browse the Commitment System.
ApplyTexas

ApplyTexas was created through a collaborative effort between the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and the colleges and universities represented on the site. The goal of the project is to offer a centralized means for both Texas and non-Texas students to apply to the many outstanding post-secondary institutions in Texas.

During the summer of 2024, THECB sent email correspondence to every public district and charter in the state explaining that the current ApplyTexas MOUs would expire August 31, 2024, and each LEA would have to sign a new MOU in order to have access to the Counselor Suite; this correspondence included a link to a contact form for the LEA to complete indicating the MOU signatory.

ESCs were asked not to work on account authorizations beginning July 31, 2024. ESC-20 shared information throughout the process via the CCMR and School Counselor Mailing Lists and communication with LEA counseling directors. MOUs were sent to LEAs beginning September 16, 2024.

On October 1, 2024, THECB allowed ESCs to work on account authorizations again for those who work in public districts and charters with an executed MOU. You may check your district/charter status by reviewing THECB's Public ISD Report. When you see a yellow star in the last column labeled Request Access to Counselor Suite, that means access may be granted.

Please note, on September 30, 2024, THECB advised ESCs not to grant district-wide access to individuals yet. When they allow us to do so, we will work on those accounts.

THECB will work on a MOU process for private schools at a later date.

If you have questions about the MOU process, please contact [email protected]

Secondary counselors and other educators in Region 20 who need access to the Counselor Suite in order to track student progress may request it by clicking on the red button below. Everyone must request access after their MOU is executed as the system will not automatically unlock accounts. Please allow up to two weeks for processing once you submit your request to us, then follow the appropriate instructions below.
