Compliance Courses Descriptions

 Anaphylaxis and Auto-Injectors

The purpose of this course is to help you understand what anaphylaxis is, learn common sources of allergies that can cause anaphylaxis (such as food allergies), how it can be prevented and how to manage anaphylactic emergencies.

 

Bloodborne Pathogens (English and Spanish)

This module aims to educate staff professionals about Bloodborne Pathogens and Exposure Control Plans to prevent the spread of these diseases.

 

 Bullying Prevention for Administrators, Teachers, and Staff (English and Spanish)

Bullying is one of the most underrated yet enduring problems in schools today and is a reality in the lives of all children, whether they are bullies, victims, or witnesses. School administrators, teachers, and staff will quickly grasp what bullying is, how to respond to bullying, and how to prevent bullying from happening in their schools.

 

Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and Other Maltreatment of Children (English and Spanish)

In partnership with the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center, this course teaches individuals who work with children on a daily basis about the signs and symptoms of child abuse. Professionals will learn facts about child abuse, including the factors that indicate a child is at-risk, how to recognize physical and behavioral signs of the varying forms of child abuse, as well as many other important details for reporting. References to the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center may be noted as "DCAC" in this course.

 

Concussions for Coaches and Nurses

This course is designed to give the appropriate school personnel a thorough understanding of concussion-related matters.

 

Conflict Resolution

The goal of this course is to equip educators with the knowledge, skills, and strategies needed to effectively address conflicts and build positive relationships with and amongst students, ultimately promoting a safe and supportive learning environment for all.

 

Cybersecurity

This course is approved by the Texas Department of Information Resources and provides best practices and strategies to maintain information and cyber security in your organization. The content was gathered using the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

 

FERPA (English and Spanish)

This training examines the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), also known as the Buckley Amendment. Teachers learn about restrictions on sharing student information as well as the rights of parents in examining student records and instructional materials.

 

Human Trafficking (English and Spanish)

This course teaches individuals who work with children on a daily basis about the signs, risk indicators, and victim vulnerabilities related to school-aged human trafficking. Information was provided by The Texas Education Agency and The Attorney General of Texas.

 

Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA)

This training covers the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) as it relates to educators’ involvement in the special education process, student eligibility, and Child Find.

 

Laws Governing the Rights of Students with Disabilities Overview (ADA/IDEA/504)

This course compares three laws in a brief overview: The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

 

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (English and Spanish)

This training outlines the requirements of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Guidelines are given for determining the eligibility of students with disabilities that may hamper a major life activity. The purpose and duties of the Section 504 committee are outlined. Teachers learn about their role in enforcing the 504 plan in the classroom.

 

Sexual Harassment (English and Spanish)

Using interactive materials, this course covers how everyone can build and maintain a respectful workplace that’s free of harassment and discrimination. First, you’ll learn what a respectful workplace looks like, how to distinguish between harassment and discrimination, and what anti-discrimination laws are in place. Then, we’ll dig into what sexual harassment is, how you can prevent it, and what you can do to combat inappropriate behavior as both an employee and a manager.

 

 

Substance Abuse

This training goes over the subject of substance abuse. You will learn about substance abuse, addiction, how it affects the student's brain, as well as commonly abused drugs, how they are used, and where they might be hidden.

 

Suicide Prevention (English and Spanish)

This course provides a detailed overview of youth suicide prevention. Participants will learn ways to recognize at-risk/high-risk students and early warning signs as well as ideas on how to intervene and protect students from a possible threat of suicide.

 

Teen Dating Violence Prevention

Teens who experience intimate partner, or dating, violence are at risk for a host of negative outcomes. This online course will include information and resources for House Bill 121, district policy, procedure expectations, statistics, recognizing signs, intervention with the victim and the perpetrator as well as options for parents. Teen dating violence is an ongoing problem for our young people and it is very important that we as educators help them recognize healthy relationships and what to do if they feel they are in an unhealthy relationship.

 

Texas Educators’ Code of Ethics

This course is designed to educate professionals on the Texas Educators' Code of Ethics. Information on conduct towards colleagues and students, practices, and performance will be shared.

 

Title IX Sexual Harassment Training for Coordinators, Investigators

This course is required for the Title IX Coordinator, any individual designated as an investigator or decision-maker in a formal complaint process under Title IX, and any person designated to facilitate an informal resolution process. Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a Federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities. Under Title IX, discrimination based on sex can also include sexual harassment or sexual violence, such as rape, sexual assault, sexual battery, and sexual coercion.

 

Understanding Copyright Law

This training discusses copyright law and “FAIR USE” guidelines in using copyrighted printed material, music, videos, and software.
